Terms of service

1. What Align Life is

Align Life is a private app for exactly two people in a relationship: a daily question you both answer, plus shared tasks, calendar, routines, expenses, savings goals, and optional wellness and cycle tracking. Our privacy policy (published alongside these terms) explains what data we collect and how we handle it; it is part of the deal you are agreeing to.

2. Who can use Align Life

You must be at least 16 years old. You must provide accurate account information and keep your login credentials to yourself. You are responsible for what happens under your account. One account per person; one linked partner per account.

3. The couple model

Align Life works by linking your account with exactly one partner's account into a shared couple space. When you link:

• Shared records — tasks, calendar events, expenses, goals, habits, and daily question answers once both of you have revealed — are visible to both of you. That is the product.
• Wellness and cycle data is shared only to the extent you choose in your settings, per category, and is off by default.
• Content you create is yours; content your partner creates is theirs; the shared space is the two together.

Only link with someone you actually intend to share this with. We cannot un-see things for you.

4. If you unlink (breakups happen)

You can unlink from your partner at any time in settings. Here is exactly what happens, so nobody is surprised at the worst possible moment:

• The couple space closes to new content. Neither of you can add to it, edit it, or continue streaks in it.
• Each of you keeps access to a read-only archive of the shared history from your time together — the record you both built stays viewable by both of you, but frozen.
• Each of you retains full ownership and control of your own contributions. You can delete any item you created, and it disappears from the archive for both of you.
• Cycle and wellness sharing ends immediately on unlink. Your partner loses access to any of your wellness data from that moment; your own history stays with you alone.
• If either of you later deletes their account, the deletion works as described in the privacy policy: that person's contributions are erased for both of you.

You can then start or join a new couple space. The old archive does not carry into it.

5. Acceptable use

Do not use Align Life to:

• harass, threaten, or harm anyone — including your partner;
• access or attempt to access another person's account or a couple space you are not part of;
• upload malicious code, probe or overload our systems, or scrape the service;
• impersonate someone else or misrepresent who you are to link with a partner;
• break the law.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that do these things. If we reasonably believe the app is being used to monitor or control a partner against their will, we may act on that too — this is a two-person product, and both people are our users.

6. Your content

You own what you put into Align Life. You give us a limited license to store, process, transmit, and display your content solely to operate and improve the service for you and your linked partner — for example, encrypting and storing your entries, syncing them between your devices, and sending you the notifications you asked for. This license ends when your content is deleted, subject to the backup windows described in the privacy policy. We do not use your content for advertising and we do not sell it.

7. Wellness, cycle tracking, and other content is not medical advice

Cycle predictions, wellness insights, and any similar content in Align Life are informational only. They are estimates based on what you log, and bodies do not follow averages. Align Life is not a medical device, is not a contraceptive or fertility-planning tool, and is not a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Talk to a healthcare professional about health decisions.

Likewise, budgets, spending summaries, and savings features are informational tools, not financial advice. We are not your financial adviser, and we never see or touch your actual accounts or money.

8. Align Life Plus (subscriptions)

Align Life is currently free. We plan to offer an optional paid tier, "Align Life Plus". When it launches, the following will apply and this section will be updated with specifics:

• Plus is purchased per couple: one subscription covers both linked partners.
• Billing is handled by Apple's App Store or Google Play through your store account. Prices are shown before you buy and may vary by region.
• Subscriptions auto-renew until cancelled. You can cancel any time in your store's subscription settings; access continues until the end of the paid period.
• Refunds are handled by the app stores under their policies — we cannot issue store refunds directly, though you can always contact us and we will help where we can.
• If a price changes, you will be notified through the store mechanism and can cancel before it takes effect.
• If you unlink from your partner mid-subscription, the subscription stays with the account that purchased it.

Features that are free during our launch period may later become part of Plus. We will be clear about it before anything moves behind a paywall, and nothing you already created will be held hostage — your data remains accessible and exportable regardless of subscription status.

9. Availability and changes to the service

We work to keep Align Life running well, but we do not promise uninterrupted or error-free service. We may add, change, or remove features. If we ever discontinue Align Life entirely, we will give you reasonable notice and a way to export your data first.

10. Termination

You can stop using Align Life at any time, and you can delete your account as described in the privacy policy (30-day grace period, then full erasure). We may suspend or terminate your account if you materially breach these terms, if the law requires it, or if keeping the account active creates risk to us or to other users. If we terminate without cause, we will give you reasonable notice and access to export your data.

11. Disclaimers

Align Life is provided "as is" and "as available". To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, and we do not warrant that predictions, reminders, calculations, or streaks will be accurate or uninterrupted. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain disclaimers, so parts of this may not apply to you.

12. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law: we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data, or goodwill; and our total liability for all claims relating to Align Life is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim or [to be completed]. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including liability for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence where applicable law forbids such limits. We are also not responsible for how your partner uses information you chose to share with them — choose your sharing settings, and your partner, with care.

13. Indemnity

If your breach of these terms or your unlawful use of Align Life causes a third-party claim against us, you agree to cover our reasonable resulting costs, to the extent permitted by the law where you live.

14. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of [to be completed], and disputes will be resolved in the courts of [to be completed], except where the consumer-protection law of your home country gives you rights and venues that cannot be taken away — those remain yours.

15. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. For material changes we will notify you in the app before they take effect, and your continued use after that date is acceptance. If you do not agree to a change, stop using the service and delete your account — that is always available to you.
